WARNING: THERE IS ONE BAD WORD IN THIS STORY! M**** which in French is not considered quite as rude as its English equivalent...
This is the story of a boy who has had enough of all the rules and how each one that applies to him seems to be broken by other people in his family.
I want to read the story to the children and ask them to try to work out which common rule the boy is complaining about each time and why he thinks they are unfair.
Rationale:
I want to read it to get children to think about common rules and what they are there for even when they seem unfair... all in French!!
The French is challenging but the key structures are repeated and the pictures are very clear. It is also quite crude, honest and fun to read!
Outcomes:
The book is full of the beginning of sentences… all there for the children to finish off! eg I am not allowed to pull faces; however when mum and dad are annoyed… It will lead to great work on -er and high frequency verbs.
Topics or themes:
To reinfore grammar points below and discuss rules and what they are there for
Grammar:
imperative of -er and reflexive verbs; avoir le droit de + infinitive; the 3rd person
