Approaches:
This is the perfect book to do go back to over and over again. I am going to use it over a term, reading one or 2 pages to the children at the beginning or the end of each lesson and we will discuss the activities mentioned. The children will tell me in French if they like them or not.
This story could be read throughout in one lesson too, but it is a long one!
Rationale:
Each double page starts with "j'aime" and an activity which small children all love to do. By the end of the story the children will know how to say "I like" in French for sure and they will know it is followed by the infinitive too!
I love the fact that most children will be able to relate to the activities which are referred to, but some of them are specific to the French culture. They will therefore teach the children something about French children too.
Outcomes:
This is a great story to introduce or reinforce opinions.
The children could use the dictionaries to come up with some of their own activities which they liked when they were little... and may still like to do now!
