Approaches:
I like this story because it is a countdown to Christmas, which P'tit Loup, like many children, is finding is taking a bit too long!
What I think would be a good idea with this book is to start using it on 1st December (or there abouts) and read the 1st and 2nd page maybe; then as we get closer to Christmas read 1-3 pages each week. The different dates in the story are 1st, 4th, 7th, 10th, 13th, 16th, 20th, 24th and 25th.

Rationale:
The story introduces different elements of the countdown towards Christmas. Some are the same in many countries (advent calendar, decorating the tree) but some are more specific to France (sablés, bûche, réveillon). You can therefore use it to compare Christmas in 2 different countries, in French or in English depending on the age and ability of the children.

Outcomes:
This book can be a basis for teaching words and phrases in French which relate to Christmas.
You may decide to make some "sablés" (similar to thin shortbread) with your pupils.
The children could recycle vocabulary to write (with support) a simplified timeline in French of their countdown to Christmas.

Topics or themes:
It is a Christmas / Noël activity which is educational and fun.

tenses (present, future, immediate future)
